1. I am adding to my own thread:

I don't know how to post it without giving away my personal information. I received a forwarded email from the Rock Island Democrats. Rauner, or as my brother calls him, Ruiner, has even eliminated funerals for indigent and homeless veterans.

We need to get rid of this guy sooner rather than later.

IL Relative wrote a respectful letter to Rauner explaining that there are 600 people in a Chicago resident facility that would be affected by cuts proposed by the Governor. Relative said that IL owes the facility 15 million $, which would rise to 21 Million $ if the cuts occur.

Received back a generic-type letter expressing that he is determined to fix the budget and that all cost are being looked at closely.

3. I think he's purposely cut stuff that makes everyone go "OMG!" to build support for the real agenda:

I'd be surprised if workers in facilities for developmentally disabled belong to unions, i.e., doubtful their wages are more than others in the people-caring business.

5. I cut myself off too soon. Here's where I was actually going to go with that:

A) Rauner wants to union bust. B) Illinois has some serious but solvable financial issues. Rauner wants to use B to get to A but he has to make the financial situation seem more dire than it really is plus make it seem like it's all because of those greedy unions with their greedy pensions and greedy pay and greedy work rules. By making those really asshole-ish cuts that he did, he is trying to make people believe that his hands are tied and unless we give him the power to deal with the unions and "special interests," his only option is draconian cuts to important social services. Even though there are numerous means of straightening Illinois out in a fair-handed way, he's not going to participate in that dialog as long as B can get get him to A.
