(Cross Post from General Discussion)
I just got back from the DuPage County Fair. You know DuPage County - the proud home of Peter Roskum and Henry "Youthful Indiscretions" Hyde. . .
The Dems have a nice display in the "main building" (which moved to another building) with pictures of all the reps, a nice display, life-sized Obama, nice Hillary -- just proud to be out there.
Then we looked for the Pubs. . . and looked. . . and looked (of course to taunt them)
Finally we found them in a tent by the midway. Between the rolled sandwiches and the knock-off sun-glasses. Only lawn signs (and the small ones). THAT'S IT. Oh yea, there was blow-up elephant. NO PICTURES. NO LITERATURE. One token guy in a wheel chair (who I over-heard was paid to be there) and a token darker-skinned person (Middle-East-ish. . .??). They were all under the tent -- well hidden. . .and just waiting for the fair to be over.
Yea, ran into ONE guy that had a Donnie sign that couldn't quote one fact. He was proud he served in Viet Nam and when I said how does he feel about Donnie's words about McCain's being a loser or that Donnie survived Viet Nam by not getting and STD he said: "demz just words". . . Hillary jail. . . Bill women. . . <<snort snort, drag knuckles, breathe through mouth, yell at clouds, lather rinse, repeat>> There were a few that agreed with him but they kept it quiet.
Oh how low they've sunk.
We can't take things for granted but DuPage County might be BLUE!!!

(42,649 posts)Last year the only political booth we saw was the Sanders Booth. I will look for a GOP booth at the fair this year.

(911 posts)was to get a DuPage Republicans bag, put a bit slash through it in black marker and write: FRIENDS DON'T LET FRIENDS VOTE REPUBLICAN. . .
That was last year when they could afford bags. . .

(3,263 posts)It's like a mini Indiana area over there near Chicago but so far away ideology wise but then demographics are changing
. Hyde's old area is already Dem - Duckworth has his seat so northern half of the area is ours but the teaparty took over the community college of dupage and almost lost the school accreditation last year. They are sick , and all come from the southern half of that county, I which is rotscums district
Give it time ..still needs time ....I work out there sometimes and see lots of Trump signs etc but Hillary too
Used to be solid solid repuke
oh oh

(911 posts)However, last time it was close and I suspect it will be this time (by close I mean Democrat got more than 40%).
He had to spend money in the primaries because his challenger was a Tea Bagger Gordon Kinzler. He thougth RosSCUM was in it with the Democrats - he's Cruz batt sh**t craz. In fact, I voted in the Republican primary to prevent Kinzle from getting in. Sad - I liked Kinzler as a doctor; he was the only one that figured out what was wrong with me.

(3,263 posts)I didn't mean to put down your district , but you yourself mention Teabagger attempts at infestation in that area . I heard they got in at COD and many local school boards out that way,
Hope for DUPAGE > Get rid of Roscum and go blue not turn to the right.

We need to build up a "farm team" of talent, starting with city councils, school boards, township offices, county boards. Get folk involved on those levels, and then cull the talent to move higher.
A very modest investment in money and manpower can have a yuge impact on a small race, that is more often decided on name recognition than policies. Hell, a good yard sign campaign can be very effective in a small race, and is very cheap and easy to put together.
