Pritzker: No conflict between progressive policies, private sector

Gov. J.B. Pritzker used a fireside chat with the Executive’s Club of Chicago on Wednesday to tout bipartisanship in securing tax credits for certain industries, which business groups have praised.

A taxpayer advocacy group said those tax credits rig the economy at the expense of all taxpayers.

Pritzker talked about the loss of his father at an early age, coping with an alcoholic mother and how President Donald Trump's election in 2016 was a major reason he decided to run for Illinois governor. He criticized Trump on immigration. The governor said having “stormtroopers” go into businesses to round up undocumented workers was wrong.

“Everything we care about is under siege by a racist, misogynist, homophobic, xenophobic president in Washington D.C.,” Pritzker said.
