Tea Party movement evaporates in Will County

Steve Balich said the Will County Tea Party movement he helped organize is disbanding in name, but not spirit, after gains by Democrats in the Nov. 6 election.

“We’re actually terminating it and calling ourselves ‘fiscal Republicans,’” Balich said of the local Tea Party, which took off in 2008 and sprouted branches in Joliet, Plainfield, New Lenox and Homer Township-Lockport.

Balich, of Homer Glen, blamed the movement’s demise on the media, which he said demonized the national Tea Party over social issues.

“People think of it as bad, but our message was just about fiscal conservatism,” he said.

it's the media's fault. Nothing at all to do with wackos with tea bags hanging off their hats and guns on their hips...and "You Betcha" as their leader. LOL.

The "Tea partiers" would figure out what the tea party was actually about.

Corporate influence over government, tyranny, corruption... Guess the Koch brothers found a name for a movement that would confound all of the rednecks. Kind of funny... especially when you hear the goobs try to explain what they actually stand for.

History is the only truth. The tea party was a necessary demonstration. The Tea party is just an angry mob.
