Police investigating drive-thru fight between employee, customer at Oswego-area Portillo's

“ OSWEGO, Ill. — An altercation in the drive-thru of an Oswego-area Portillo’s, in which video has been widely shared, is being investigated by the police department.

On Sunday, officers were called to the restaurant just before noon for a fight between an employee and a customer.

The employee, 18, was evaluated by paramedics and later taken to the hospital. Police said that they did not speak with the employee before he was transported. The customer, a 48-year-old man, was questioned, according to police.

Police say they are aware that video of the incident is circulating on social media.”

Some important background information…the employee was an 18 year old African American man, the customer was a 48 year old white man; and the online news stories leave those pertinent facts out. It is disgusting that apparently some people just can’t pass up the opportunity to emulate Derek Chauvin.

I tracked down at least one Facebook post about this that included this information:
“ This happened at Portillos in Oswego, IL today! A white man was assaulting a black worker, kneeled on his neck and broke his arm. If you have any information please let me know. ”

I’m not a huge fan of Facebook, nor do I know how to link to a video there but searching “Portillo’s fight Oswego” will get you to the page with the video.
