Muddy Waters, Cheap Trick among inductees in first class of Illinois Rock & Roll Hall of Fame

https://www.fox32chicago.com/news/muddy-waters-cheap-trick-among-inductees-in-first-class-of-illinois-rock-roll-hall-of-fame

JOLIET, Ill. - The very first Illinois Rock & Roll Museum Hall of Fame inductees will be honored Tuesday at the Rialto Theatre in Joliet.

The event honors the state’s legends that shaped rock and roll.

They are the giants of the music industry and they all have ties to Illinois.

The museum, located on Route 66 near Lincoln Highway, is making Joliet the center of rock and roll’s local past and future.

Ron Romero, the president and founder of the Illinois Rock & Roll Museum on Route 66, says people think of Los Angeles, New York and Nashville as music cities but, "truth be told there's a lot of music in Chicago."

Over 4,000 performers were nominated. That number was narrowed down to 21 and seven were chosen.

The first class of Hall of Famers are Cheap Trick, Chicago, REO Speedwagon, The Buckinghams, Ides of March, Buddy Guy and Muddy Waters.

And, today we live about 2 blocks from the old Route 66!
I didn't even hear about this museum. I'll have to check it out.
One surprising omission is Survivor.
I know Peterik is in because of Ides Of March. Survivor sold even more units than Ides.
Besides, I've known Frankie Sullivan since I was in high school, and Dave Bickler since around 1976. (Because of them, I know Peterik, too.). So, I'm biased.
Another suggestion for an IL RRHoF, is Head East.
They were an outstanding live act & "Never Been Any Reason" is a great song!

'Flat as a Pancake' was a great album.

Then much later the song 'Don't Call Us, We'll Call You' got a lot of airplay here.

Not surprised they played around StL. The band got put together in Charleston when a few of the guys were going to EIU. Later they operated out of Champaign or Bloomington.
But...
"Don't Call us..." was not by Head East. Their other modest hit was Love Me Tonight, also off Pancake.
That song was done by Sugarloaf.
Same guys that did "Green Eyed Lady". Jerry Corbetta was an excellent keyboardist. The main riff on " Don't Call..." was actually him on a growling Hammond B-3.
Here's the song.

'Green-Eyed Lady' as a big hit & then a big gap between that & 'Don't Call Us'. Like a two hit wonder.

That was back when I only played keyboards, so I was acutely aware of all the good keyboardists.
Jerry was one of them!
I really dug the use of vibes during the main riff. Not much vibes work in rock!
