Related: About this forumMoveOn asks Illinoisans to call their state reps to support Quinn's Concealed Carry amendatory veto
Dear Illinois MoveOn member,
Yesterday, Governor Pat Quinn acted to reduce gun violence in Illinoisstanding on the side of the more than 7,000 MoveOn members who signed Illinois MoveOn member Lee Goodman's petition against concealed carry.
Gov. Quinn used his amendatory veto power to block the worst provisions of a new law that makes it legal to carry concealed firearms in Illinois. With his proposed changes, it won't be legal for people to carry more than one concealed gun, carry guns into some restaurants, or bring concealed weapons into someone's home without their permission.1
It's now up to the General Assembly to respond. If they override the veto, there will be even more hidden guns on the streets. That's why we need them to uphold the governor's amendatory veto when they vote on it as soon as next week.
Will you call State Senator XXXXXXXX and State Representative XXXXXXXX and tell them: "Uphold Gov. Quinn's concealed carry veto, which includes commonsense measures to reduce gun violence."
Here's where to call:
State Senator XXXXXX
Phone: (217) 782-XXXX
State Representative XXXXXXX
Phone: (217) 782-XXXX
Then, please report your call by clicking here.
For more information on what's happening and what's next, read the message below from Lee Goodman.
Thanks for all you do.
Garlin, Alex, Mariana, Linda, and the rest of the team
P.S. If you can't make a call, click here to sign Lee's petition.

Subject: The Governor Vetoed The Bill
Governor Quinn listened to us. On Tuesday, he used his amendatory veto to make changes that we recommended to the concealed carry bill that the Legislature passed. Now we have to make sure the Legislature does not override his veto.
The bill that the Legislature passed has many flaws, but among the most dangerous provisions is that it would allow people to carry guns into stores, offices, churches, and onto other private property without the owner's permission. It even says they could carry guns into your home without your permission.
The law as the governor has rewritten it would only let people bring guns onto your private property if you told them they could. The problem is, the National Rifle Association wants people to be able to carry guns everywhere, with or without permission, so they want the Legislature to override the veto.
I hope you will agree that your right to control your own home is important and should be protected.
Please call your legislators today and tell them not to override the veto. It doesn't matter whether you have ever talked to or written the legislator beforeyour call is the only thing that is likely to make a difference at this point.
You can find your legislator's phone number at http://www.ilga.gov/. You should know that the Legislature has banned people from bringing guns into their offices, but they left you vulnerable to people bringing guns to your workplaces and homes. If no one answers your call, leave a message stating your views and asking for a return call.
After you call your legislators, call at least five friends, tell them why you called your legislators, and ask them to call their legislators, too. We have worked hard for months. What happens in the next few days will have a major impact on how safe our state is. Please make the effort that this issue deserves.
Thank you,
Lee Goodman, for the Coalition

They wouldn't confirm for me how they would ultimately vote, but the people in the offices said they would definitely convey my message.
