Adams, Marion, and Lee Counties report robust early voting numbers as election nears

QUINCY, Ill. (KHQA) — Early voting is in full swing in Quincy ahead of the November election. It's a process to help as many people make it to the polls as possible.

"With early voting, vote by mail, they're really great tools to allow the voters to come out and vote on their own terms, when it's available and convenient for them," Adams County Clerk & Recorder Ryan Niekamp said.

According to Niekamp Adams County has seen just under 1,400 votes by mail ballots, with around 900 still outstanding. They've had just over 5,000 early voters so far, roughly a 15% voter turnout.

"As we get closer to the election though I anticipate [voter turnout] probably to expand a little bit more. It's meant to be easy, not complicated. We really hope that everybody has a good voting experience here," Niekamp said.
