Who is Bruce Rauner and why is he on my tv so often?

I live in Eastern Iowa, Quad Cities and so we get political ads from two states (yippee. or not). Anyway, I've noticed a LOT of ads by some right winger named Bruce Rauner. Memo to Rauner- it's only December, stop polluting the airwaves already.

Rules are for the little people-

In March 2013, the Daily Herald reported that Rauner had, for a number of years, improperly claimed three homestead exemptions on his Cook County property taxes. In April 2013, Crain's Chicago Business reported that Rauner, who had changed his voter registration address from Wilmette to Chicago in 2008, allegedly used his influence to obtain admission to Walter Payton College Prep for a daughter who did not meet the entrance requirements of the school and was initially denied admission.

Private Equity Parasite ala Rmoney-
Healthcare benefits provider Universal American Corp sued private equity firm GTCR LLC on Tuesday to undo a $222.3 million acquisition it said was induced by fraud, a day after GTCR filed its own lawsuit to block Universal's claims.

The dispute goes to the heart of the business of the private equity industry, where firms buy companies and hope to sell them later at a profit. Finding interested buyers and avoiding the taint of fraud are crucial to a firm's ability to earn big profits for itself and its investors.

--snip--

Universal said "the ugly truth" emerged soon thereafter, with APS being declared in default by its biggest customer and losing some or all of its business with other large customers.

"Defendants engaged in a deliberate campaign to conceal the truth about APS," Universal said. "The avalanche of bad news ... the complete evaporation of APS's income within months, and the sheer number of misrepresentations and omissions in the merger agreement ... are all telltale signs of fraud."

Suffice to say he's just another corporate parasite seeking to add a jewel to his resume'.

5. Thanks for posting all these great links. Did you hear Madigan made fun of his cheap watch?

Trying to appeal to ""Joe 6 pack" in a loathesome, condescending way he wears a cheapo watch in one of his EVERYMAN commercials.

Madigan referred to his $18.00 watch. LOL

I hope, despite the recent early ad blitz, few will believe that a guy who made $53.4 million last year and has nine homes is wearing a cheap plastic watch.

lots of GOP competition and poor running mate choice
Sen. Bill Brady’s selection of Maria Rodriguez brings a proven conservative with suburban ties, and some Executive experience as a Mayor, to balance Brady’s legislative background as a State Senator.

Sen. Kirk Dillard’s pick of State Rep. Jil Tracy provides geographic balance as she hails from downstate Quincy, and she is a well-regarded legislator with support of many conservative and moderate Republicans. As well, Tracy has a business background in a large family business that employs many Illinoisans.

Treasurer Dan Rutherford chose Steve Kim who has the experience of having run statewide before and he and Rutherford have a great deal of synergy together as long time allies. Rutherford trusts him to be in charge of implementing his statewide jobs creation program.

Bruce Rauner, after being turned down by several more accomplished suburban women, settled on little known first-term Wheaton Councilwoman Evelyn Pacino Sanguinetti. After a brief campaign rollout augmented by a couple of slick videos (one English. one Spanish) this web site broke the hugely damaging story about Sanguinetti’s multi-count lawsuit against her own community and other governmental bodies over her slip and fall on a walk to the train station. Once that information became public it was too late for Rauner to dump her from the ticket and admit he made the wrong choice. But she has become so toxic that he has had to find a seat on the backbench for her to avoid more public scrutiny of his poor judgment.

Here is the story about “Slip and Sue:” http://norauner.com/2013/10/22/sanguinetti-slip-and-sue-story-going-viral/

Looks like he has money to keep up those TV ads
