Indiana's great time zone debate returns as some lawmakers push to put whole state on Central time

Some Indiana lawmakers are pushing to switch the state to the Central Time Zone.

The Senate Homeland Security and Transportation committee passed a resolution Tuesday to study which time zone Indiana's counties should fall under.

Currently, most of Indiana is in the Eastern Time Zone, while 12 counties in the southwestern and northwestern portions are in the Central Time zone.

The resolution isn't a promise to commit to the Central Time Zone, but a push for an interim study committee to examine the issue, authoring Sen. Greg Walker, R-Columbus, said.
