Democratic groups invest in Indiana gubernatorial race after Gregg narrows lead held by Pence

INDIANAPOLIS — Democrats see a glimmer of hope in the Indiana governor's race that once looked like a runaway for Republican Mike Pence.

Democrat John Gregg has begun tying Pence to Republican Senate candidate Richard Mourdock, whose candidacy is in jeopardy following remarks he made last week that a pregnancy resulting from rape is something "God intended."

The Democratic Governors Association has donated $295,000 to the Gregg campaign over the past week, and Believe in Indiana, a Democratic-aligned super PAC, has spent $530,000 on ads hitting Pence on the abortion issue.
