Or that we're;

all Klan members.

all brain-dead hicks,

not worth the pity of those who live in some mythical state that is the ideal liberal utopia.

I've seen ALL these wonderful comments right here on DU.

I also loved New York, New Jersey and California ... all states where I have lived ...

I also lived in Missouri, for 15 of the most awful months of my life (so far) ...

You wanna say something bad about New York? ... New Jersey? ... California? ... get in line, buddy, get in line ...

Now ... let me just state here, emphatically, ... Missouri is the most racist, backwards, ridiculously asinine state I have ever had the displeasure of visiting ...

Any Missourians wanna clobber me for that? ... fine ... I'm a big boy and I can take it ...

Indiana? ... meh....

The right wingers have been in charge almost forever (the Klan was voted in to run the state once but that was true in my great state of Colorado history also). But there have always been wonderful caring Democrats who work hard to change the state and there still are.

Scott Pelath, Terri Austin, Charlie Brown, Greg Porter, Ed DeLaney...every single session they stand up to the GOP lunacy that makes its way through the General Assembly. Yes, they get shouted down more often than not, and get shut down through "parliamentary procedure" bullshit more often than not, but they get their points across. They are fighters, despite the GOP supermajority.

The circus comes back to town in about five weeks. If you can, check out the live stream of the sessions. They will sometimes enrage you, frustrate you, and make you wonder about the average IQ level. But when the people I mentioned above take the podium, they WILL do you proud.

(That said, I'm torn over whether I want to see DeLaney quit to run for Indianapolis mayor. He is such a strong and needed presence in the General Assembly that I would hate to see him go. But I think he would do the city a lot of good, too.)
