that idiotic state-run news agency mess he created. Have hardly seen a peep or two in GD or LBN about it, only one or two comments. Not only is he an idiot, but he is ruining our fine state with each day he continues in an office he doesn't even really want. It's just a placeholder for the real prize, the White House. We here all surely know that, and in his rather short tenure he has done hardly anything, except for a couple of pet projects, one of which thwarts the will of the people and denies a duly-elected public servant her position. Can we impeach him yet? I have posed this question several places on FB. There are scads of national news stories about this debacle, and he is an embarrassment not only to our state, but to his prior career as a radio broadcaster with the news agency story. He only wants to create that agency to spread "news" (propaganda) for his Presidential run, and I dare say he isn't even qualified for the office he holds. So, Can we impeach now? Also, how can we get the story some legs here on DU? Thoughts.... (*edits below, to include story links, by request

(116,413 posts)The best way for the story to get any traction though is by placing the news in the state groups like you just placed your OP. There were only three OPs in the Indiana Group this year, one in December (by me, btw), and only four OPs in November. It's sad to see that only 30 people subscribe to the Indiana Group. However, all movements start small and hopefully they gather steam which means that more stories are needed within the group to gather attention and make people check DU more frequently. Good luck!

(10,336 posts)but it is random and rare. I guess another thing driving my mood this morning is, without people elsewhere hearing about it, they might never know. I'd like to warn all, far and wide, that this man is a dangerous, well-funded, debacle of epic proportions, who should never get near the levers of government again. I hope maybe a few will poke their heads in and hear the message.

(222 posts)I grew up in northern Indiana so I try to follow news from there. But to be honest, I could never go back. Very nice people, very scary politics... Right now I'd say that in the clown car of Republican presidential candidates, Pence is riding in the trunk.

(1,408 posts)I live in Ohio close to IN state line and heard on a Winchester radio station that he didn't know about it and wouldn't support it.
He's been spouting nonsense trying to do damage control.

Indiana Gov. Mike Pence (R), in an interview with a conservative radio host, denied knowing anything about a state-run news site he reportedly planned to start.
Pence's denial comes after the Indianapolis Star reported that Pence planned to start "Just IN," a state-run news site staffed by Pence press officials.
The news site, according to documents, would compete with independent news organizations on news about Pence's administration and offer pre-written stories to local news organizations.
"As governor, I can assure you that [the plan] did not meet my expectations and if this website doesn't meet my expectations of respecting the role of a free and independent press, I will reject it," Pence said during an interview with Greg Garrison's radio show on WIBC-FM Wednesday.
Pence said he learned about the memo for the news site from press reports on Monday.
"I'm asking all those questions, Greg," Pence said. "I frankly learned about the memo from press reports late Monday. Using terms like news service, like news outlet, it's just not appropriate."
The idea for the site was widely criticized and Pence has had to perform damage control ever since it was publicized.
On Tuesday, Pence said reports about the Just In were a mischaracterization.
"Reports that this was intended to be a news agency, I think just represent an understandable misunderstanding based on some internal communications that I read about in the press," Pence said.

(2,012 posts)and was saddened that the state I grew up in has elected such reps for so long. I am fortunate to live in Boulder Colorado where we have a strong liberal base but CO threw out a a long-time Dem (Udall) who has worked tirelessly for Dem values and bills. Today our last Dem Senator (Bennet) just voted with the Repugs for the Keystone pipeline. Looks really hopeless for the whole nation if the Dems won't stand together.
The problem has always been and still is that these guys owe their souls and election to big money, but I am thankful that there are some great people in Indiana who will work hard to bring your state and our nation back to the people.
