How did he have a commanding lead and suddenly its reversed?
Did some bad news come out for Bayh that suddenly changed so many minds? Most people don't change their mind politically so quickly and so late, so what is going on?

(8,377 posts)Hell, most of these dumbasses voting for Trump are too stupid to figure out how to cross over, even if they wanted to.
The problem is that Clinton wrote off the state from the very beginning.

(8,377 posts)Virtually no Clinton presence. Only one tiny office in Indy with no phone-banking or any other real activity. No events. No appearances, even by surrogates. The top of the ticket matters, and Trump probably wins Indiana by over 10 points. How are you going to get a person voting for Trump to cross over to cast a vote for Bayh? When you think about it that way, it is amazing that the Senate contest is even close.
And part of the problem was that Bayh never ever stood for anything his entire political career. He was able to win some elections, but nobody was ever passionate about electing him. He was never hugely popular.

(1,900 posts)he's portrayed as a liberal, from the left he's no better than Lieberman. And you're right, I don't think he's ever been passionate about anything. All calculating, all the time.

(8,377 posts)But you are correct. The liberal label was often thrown at Bayh.
We need to be much more aggressive in challenging that kind of demagogery. "What do you mean by 'Liberal' ?"
"Tell me exactly what policies you disagree with and tell me what your solution would be instead."
None of them is capable of any intelligent response to those simple questions. We must call them out on that every single day. "Don't just toss out vague labels. Tell me how you would solve this problem."
We can't wait 4 years to do that. We have to do it every single day.
