Judge: Remarks about shooting 'pigs' admissible

MUNCIE, Ind. – Jurors can hear testimony concerning comments a Muncie man purportedly made about killing police before he exchanged gunshots with Delaware County sheriff’s deputies.

Gregory Bruce Grider Jr., 29, is charged with two counts of attempted murder in the shootout, last May 27 in a Liberty Township mobile home owned by the defendant’s grandmother.

His Delaware Circuit Court 1 trial is set to begin May 1.

In a ruling this week, Judge Marianne Vorhees ruled Chief Deputy Prosecutor Eric Hoffman can introduce testimony concerning Grider’s remarks to a Delaware County Community Corrections official about his willingness to kill officers, whom he purportedly referred to as “pigs.”
