Kokomo man, 80, arrested for rape after SWAT team deployed
KOKOMO An 80-year-old Kokomo man was arrested Monday on a charge of rape after the Kokomo Police Department SWAT team was deployed to a house.
William T. Graham was arrested on charges of rape, a level 1 felony, confinement, a level 3 felony, and armed robbery, a level 3 felony. Another Kokomo man, Robert Meriwether Sr., 56, was arrested at the same residence on warrants for failure to appear in court and body attachment.
According to a KPD press release, KPD received a call at 5:55 a.m. from a 29-year-old Kokomo woman who said she was confined and raped at gunpoint at a nearby residence.
Officers located the victim in the area of North and Market streets. The victim, says the press release, stated she went to a residence in the 1400 block of North Lafountain Street on April 23 in the evening hours to sell an electronic tablet to an individual. That residence was allegedly the location of the crime.
