Thursday: 3 9 p.m.
Friday: 9 a.m. 9 p.m.
Saturday: 9 a.m. 6 p.m.
Sunday: 9 a.m. 6 p.m. 50% off sale
Monday: 9 a.m. 6 p.m. 75% off sale
The Planned Parenthood Book Sale is one of the largest single charitable events run exclusively by volunteers, not only in the state of Iowa, but in the country. Shoppers come from across the Midwest for bargain prices on thousands of used and collectible books, plus records, CDs, DVDs, games, puzzles, and artwork.
41,000 sq. feet
Items for the book sale pack the 41,000 square foot 4-H Building at the Iowa State Fair Grounds.
4 semi trailers
4 semi trailers transport the books and wares from the Jacqueline N. Blank book drop to the sale.
12,000 customers
12,000 customers from 37 different states and 139 Iowa towns attended the last book sale.
200,000 books
800 tables are filled with 200,000 for each saleand each sale features a completely new inventory!

(10,115 posts)1. I've got two boxes of books to donate, and may yet have a third.
I tried to get to the drop off some time ago, and the two blocks of the Clark Street were reduced to rubble. I need to go back soon.

Of course I don't need anymore books but I love to browse and it's for a great cause.

Several years ago we donated five boxes full. We have another two to donate, and if we go through the shelves there might be another box. I think Ive only gone to the sale twice.
