Beware of the Lake

( from the daily newsletter "The High Five" from progressiowa.org)

3. BEWARE OF LAKE: It’s official: Lake of Three Fires has brain-eating amoeba which killed a Missouri man recently. So, what is Iowa doing about it? Under Gov. Reynolds, the Department of Natural Resources, they’re reopening the lake today. No, we’re not joking. But, they’re putting up a sign warning you not to let too much water go up your nose. Welcome to Iowa.

If you go swimming don't get wet.

If an amoeba eats your brain, it is your own fault.

They are reopening? I would say the person that thinks it’s ok to open this lake back up has brain eating amoeba.

https://www.radioiowa.com/2022/07/28/southwest-iowa-beach-to-reopen-with-signs-warning-tests-confirm-rare-brain-eating-amoeba-present/

The beach at the Lake of Tree Fires is reopening today, with signs posted that warn of the amoeba’s presence. State officials say swimmers should take precautions and limit the amount of water that goes up their noses. Pentella said the organism is extremely rare and has primarily been found in southern states when lake levels are low and the water gets hot due to prolonged periods of high temperatures.

Are you fucking serious Reynolds????
