Related: About this forumDes Moines Register's accuracy
Basically just posting a picture I hope, but since 1988, Des Moines Register's endorsement has gotten the November end one right once. And that I consider a stolen election. So they were 1/2 right. George W. Bush 2000 Endorsement only time they were accurate.
What'll happen don't know but the odds seem to suggest two things. 1. Bernie gets it , 2. Hillary gets it but loses to Trump. (by the way 1988 is dating me. Since I only knew the main people running then. Paul Simon?? hey I woulda been 12 1/2 then
and I don't post often so hope this is the right area.

(5,668 posts)However some are using it as.... justification. People never read the fine print. Which is why the print is so tiny. Or read so fast the narrator coulda sworn and nobody would know.

(23,156 posts)that the Des Moines Register's endorsement bears almost no resemblance to how their endorsed candidate fares.

(5,668 posts)which is pretty much ironically what they said. even though loop it around fivethirtyeight got 2012 right. Just as much odds as Des Moines Register. I just thought to point it out. They can be taken about 5 different ways and I'm still trying to find my head on Paul Simon no I don't think you can call me al.

(50,734 posts)People talk about it. "Oh, the 'blank blank' paper endorsed 'blank blank' candidate." But that's about it.

I doubt many Iowans cared before they were sold what their endorsements were. Now I doubt they influence anyone at all.
But boy oh boy does the corporate media ever play up what the corporate media does at a local level.
I just could not imagine a corporate owned newspaper anywhere in the US - especially a Gannett paper - endorsing Sanders. Well, maybe they'd let the outlet in Iowa City do it, but even that would be doubtful.

(5,668 posts)That doesn't help much. Lost a fingertip thanks to them had two lawyers who actually thought Travelers insurance would go with the lawsuit. they didn't so it didn't go anywhere. I was told later after my accident another employer's hand was impaled on the ad inserter smh. Safety!!!!
