One of our local righties had something to say.
Nothing could be further from the truth than to assert that Islam is a religion of peace, and that Christians and Muslims pray to the same God.
Islam rejects the Christian doctrine of the Trinity. American military chaplains serving in Saudi Arabia are ordered to cover their offensive lapel crosses with tape; Bible ownership and evangelism are punishable offenses.
To further dispel the notion that radical jihadis are perverting or misinterpreting the Koran to justify their deeds, Andrew McCarthy, lead prosecutor who convicted Sheik Omar Abdel Rahman in connection with the 1993 attack on the World Trade Center, stated, ...I did think that if what we were saying as a government was true that (Rahman) was perverting Islam then there must be ways where I could nail him by saying, You told your followers X, but the doctrine clearly says Y. So my colleagues and I pored over the Blind Sheiks many writings. And what we found was alarming: Whenever he quoted the Koran or other sources of Islamic scripture, he quoted them accurately.
McCarthy gives several examples: When (Rahman) said the scriptures command that Muslims strike terror into the hearts of Islams enemies, the scriptures back him up.

This is too much horseshit to let pass without out a rebuttal, which I sent in this morning...

(63,207 posts)1. "My gawd is bigger than your gawd
my gawd is bigger than yours
my gawd is bigger just because I think he is
my gawd is bigger than yours"
And by gawd, I am willing to sacrifice the sons and daughters of strangers to prove it is.
My kids will have to stay alive though, to carry on the important work of proving which gawd is bigger.

(12,336 posts)2. And these dumbfucks who pervert christianity are a ok.
I guess. At least in their own minds.
"Hey! I have an idea! Let's go kill someone because god told me to!" That is the mentality we are up against. And quite frankly, I'm tired of talking to these people. Life is just too short and I want quality, not whatever they are offering.

(18,470 posts)3. Here's my response.
My response got published today;
The Bible also has passages ordering the deaths of non-believers. In Numbers 31, God commanded the Israelites to kill all the men, married women and male children of Midian but for the soldiers to divide female virgins amongst themselves.
The Bible has been used to justify a number of evil things, including slavery and genocide. The Bible continues to be used to justify hatred and acts of violence. There are countless examples of Christian extremists using the Bible to justify violence against Jews and Muslims from the Crusades to the atrocities of Nazi Germany against Jews and others.
It was just over four years ago that I visited Turkey, which is over 90 percent Muslim. At no time did I feel unsafe over there, and felt safer there than I do sometimes here. They want the same things many of us want, to be left in peace to worship God as they see fit and arent particularly keen on interfering with others based on their religious beliefs, unlike conservative Christians here in the United States.
Yes, the truth is out there, but we live in a time where conservative media and the forces of intolerance attempt to sweep that truth under the rug. We live in a time where the principles of judge not lest ye be judge are ignored.

And in the coming days the stupid surely will be invading my mailbox...
