Iowa
Related: About this forumOk it's Patty Judge.
A corporate type of Dem. But...she is almost certainly the best hope Dems have of deposing, er, defeating Grassley. And Grassley must go. So I am throwing my support behind Judge. I hope the rest of the Iowa Democrats do as well.

(50,753 posts)I didn't vote for her but she'll get my support.
BTW, this was kind of funny:
Grassley campaign removing image of Judge staffer from TV ad
U.S. Sen. Chuck Grassleys re-election campaign will revise a newly released TV ad to remove the image of a campaign staffer for his leading Democratic opponent.
The 60-second ad that began airing in the Des Moines and Cedar Rapids TV markets this week initially featured a photo of Grassley, a Republican, posing with a Decatur County man named Jordan Pope.
The photo, which showed Pope standing with Grassley and holding out a cellphone as if taking a selfie, flashes on the screen for about two seconds while a narrator described Grassleys work this year on the Senate Judiciary Committee.
Pope, it turns out, is a staffer on the campaign of Patty Judge, one of four Democrats seeking to challenge Grassley in November. Hes also the Decatur County Democratic chairman and a member of the partys state central committee.

(1,729 posts)I'm a Bernie supporter moving toward Hillary. My blue yard sign was replaced with a white one last week as hope faded. I had a convo with myself Tuesday evening on the way home from work to vote. There were my thoughts...
1. I convinced my more progressive part that whoever faced CG would need very, very deep party roots and financial support.
2. There's the issue of gender in the context of political confrontation, a dynamic which we saw recently play out with Braley-Ernst. It will be very difficult for Grassley to hit hard and attack a women candidate without alienating women voters. Conversely, she can pound the hell out of him with virtual impunity. There's plenty more to be said on that, but enough said now.
3. Finally, since the party is currently in the hands of establishment types, she fit the mold. It's not the ideal mold IMHO, but I felt that a vote for Judge would move us into contention and potentially enable us--should she win--to make one more step toward a more fair, equal, and just society.
In the final analysis I felt that she had the best chance to retire Grassley and add another brick to the foundation of progressivism.
And did I mention her name is "Judge"? How coincidental, how metaphorical, how utterly poetic. In and of itself, that could reap huge dividends in commanding public attention.
So I didn't vote my heart; instead, I voted my head. I wonder how many others struggle with this tension?
Peace.
