Fate of Dubuque Malting and Brewing Company building up in the air

Hopefully in a few days we'll learn the fate of the Dubuque Malting and Brewing Company building....

With the right investor, the old Dubuque Malting and Brewing Co. building could be a “Cadillac” property, according to owner Jim Krueger.

But absent a buyer, the 120-year-old Dubuque building’s days could be numbered.

“If I don’t (get a buyer), it’s going to all come down,” Krueger said.

During a court appearance Wednesday, Krueger was told he had until 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 8, to present the city with an “executed contract” for the building’s stabilization or demolition, according to City of Dubuque Building Services Manager Todd Carr.

I hope they can save the building and restore it so it's safe to use and some place that people will want to go to. Of course if someone does buy the building and works to restore it the local teabillies will start screaming socialism.
