'Solidarity march' at Iowa State University offers support amid Trump's orders

AMES, Iowa — Saba Moeinizade came to Iowa State University from Iran in August to study industrial engineering.

The 23-year-old worked hard to get her visa, but on Thursday she wondered aloud whether she will be able to stay in the United States for the five years she planned to study here.

Moeinizade spoke to a Register reporter during the Hoodies and Hijabs Solidarity March at ISU, which was organized by several student groups to show support for refugees, racial minority groups and other people who may feel targeted by President Donald Trump.

The event largely highlighted Trump's recent executive order involving a travel ban on the citizens of seven predominately Muslim countries and suspension of refugees entering the U.S.
