FBI investigating Sioux County Dakota Access Pipeline vandalism

Sioux County Sheriff's Office officials say the Dakota Access Pipeline was vandalized in two locations last week.

Authorities responded at 2 p.m. to two areas south of Hospers where they surmised that someone attempted to burn holes into the above-ground valves, a Sioux County Sheriff's Office press release says. Deputies secured both locations.

The FBI will take over the investigation of the Sioux County vandalism. Their team is already investigating other instances of vandalism in Mahaska County and in South Dakota.

Officials encouraged the public to report any suspicious activity near the pipeline sites.
