KCRG: DPS encourages saving fireworks for the driveway, not the highway

It's actually a message about not driving under the influence.

With changes in Iowa’s fireworks law there will be even more celebrating for the Fourth of July and the preceding weekend. Unfortunately, the Department of Public Safety celebrating often includes misuse of alcohol which may lead to drunk driving. Because the high fatality rate over recent Fourth of July holidays there will be additional law enforcement on Iowa’s roads as well as the entire nation.

The Iowa Department of Public Safety and the Governor’s Traffic Safety Bureau remind you to Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over!

But why am I getting the quesy feeling that in addition to driving drunk, some morons are going to decide that shooting off fireworks from a moving vehicle is a good idea? Thanks KCRG.

freedums and liburties and 'Murica!

I called my local police department yesterday and they told me that it is illegal to shoot them off in town because of the noise ordinance. But I expect the fact that fireworks are now "legal" will up the shooting of them this year.

And the police person I talked to said there isn't a lot they can do before 10 pm.
A day or two ago, a house caught on fire just down the road from my house because of misuse of fireworks. I laughed and laughed. I know it may seem cruel but I've had enough of all this noise.
