Cedar Rapids hotel accused of wage theft loses franchise
Some good news
The parent company of Clarion Hotels says a Cedar Rapids hotel will lose the name following an investigation into complaints.
Numerous employees contacted KCRG-TV9 saying they haven't been paid in nearly two months. Follow-up phone calls found an investigation has been started by the U.S. Department of Labor.
A spokesperson for Choice Hotels released a statement to KCRG-TV9 on Wednesday saying in part, "As soon as we learned of this situation, an internal review was conducted and the hotel is being terminated from our system."
The spokesperson went on to say, "Termination from our system means the hotel no longer has the right to operate under the Clarion name and must immediately cease identifying itself as a Clarion Hotel. The hotel is also removed from our central reservation system people use to book rooms, and guests with existing reservations will be contacted and given the option to relocate to another property."
In case people cant tell the contempt I have for businesses that conduct wage theft is at Roy Moore/Steve King/Joni Ernst/Donald Trump levels.
