Saw this today
An Iowa school district is hiring more security personnel after receiving special permission to spend $1.1 million beyond state spending limits.
The Davenport Community School District received approval Tuesday from the School Budget Review Committee to hire 18 unarmed security supervisors, even as the district works to cut spending in other areas. Superintendent Art Tate says the personnel costs will be covered by grants or other funding in future years.
Davenport's plan comes as schools across Iowa are working to comply with a new law requiring security plans developed in coordination with law enforcement and emergency management officials. Iowa Department of Education director Ryan Wise says Iowa schools are safer than they were five years ago, but more can be done.

Yeah, more could be done. Like dealing with the fucking elephant in the room and keeping weapons of war away from people who shouldn't even have pocket knives.

(48,853 posts)1. Pretty soon, if not already, liability insurance carriers will REQUIRE armed security guards in
public schools. Too many shootings to cover damages otherwise.

(13,420 posts)3. Then the premiums will increase when the security guards shoot kids who they mistake for the
assassin.
"He looked like he had a gun." Also, his skin was a little darker than the rest of the kids.
Better yet, when the security guard kills the teacher who, up to a minute earlier, went from concealed carrier to stalking the halls to look for the assassin with a pistol in his hand.

but there's always money for school police.......
And, yes, I agree with your last comment about the elephant in the room.
