Grassley impressed by Trump's admission of mistake

https://qctimes.com/news/local/government-and-politics/grassley-impressed-by-trump-s-admission-of-mistake/article_4509fbd9-c530-5c18-a6a2-0ee8036e076f.html

<<snip>>

In the meantime, Grassley’s office issued a statement that the Judiciary Committee chairman “has seen no evidence to contradict the conclusion of the U.S. intelligence community that Russia meddled in the 2016 presidential election.”

But Grassley on Wednesday said he’s willing to accept the president’s clarification of his remarks about Russian interference.

“He (Trump) said he made a mistake. He apologized for it. We ought to accept his apology and say ‘praise the lord’ when anybody that’s in politics ever says they did anything wrong, especially if they apologize for it,” the Iowa Republican.

Trump’s apology was an “honorable thing to do,” Grassley said, “Something, quite frankly, he ought to do more often.”

Hey Chuckles, here is a clue: Donald Trump lies. All the time. This is a fucking lie. Like everything else out of Trump's lips. Get your head out of his ass and look at the real world.

1. Oh, spare me, Chuck. Trump habitually lies to the American people. He doesn't apologize for that.

He has violated his oath of office and has become a threat to our national security. He doesn't apologize for that.

To admit that he "misspoke" is nothing more than Trump trying to extricate his ass from a crack that he deliberately put himself into.

3. Grassley knows if Trump falls, so does the GOP and conservatism

He will always ultimately support Trump and be rewarded for his loyalty.

Expect to see the same from many Republicans. They lose everything important to them (they care little about the US) if Trump goes down.

If President Obama had made a similar mistake you never would have accepted his apology and probably would call him a racial slur the second the cameras and reporters went away.

The context of the statement in question leads to statement as originally delivered.(IMHO)
