Reynolds won't deny Republicans plan to Gut IPERS benefits

Heads Up! According to State Treasurer Fitzgerald, there is a Republican bill sitting in the Iowa House that would "Hybridize" the IPERS pension plan. In effect, new employees would be offered 401K plans instead of current IPERS benefits. This would under fund current IPERS benefits and run the fund out of monies within 15 years. Reynolds has not taken a stand against this bill.

I'm going to be out there knocking doors too. Have noticed there are many more democrats showing up at our meetings than in years past. This morning had a large room of people show up at 8:00 am to hear State Treasurer Fitzgerald speak about the Republican threat to IPERS. The people are getting woke!

We've been targeting independents and occasional Dem voters. One woman told me she often votes for Republicans but this year she's voting straight Democratic no matter who the candidate is! And that her husband, who usually votes Libertarian, is voting D too!

I also love it when you meet a kindred soul while out door knocking. It keeps me going on the days I really feel down about the current political situation.
