United Health Care leaving Iowa Medicaid

Ugh

One of three insurance companies that help run the state's Medicaid program will leave the market after Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds ended negotiations because of terms she believed were "unreasonable and unsustainable."

The Iowa Department of Human Services, which oversees the health care program for 680,000 poor and disabled Iowans, said it received notice Friday that UnitedHealthcare would be leaving the IA Health Link program over the next several months.

In the meantime, members can see their health care providers as usual, but about 425,000 Medicaid recipients will be asked to choose one of the other two companies, Amerigroup of Iowa or Centene Corp. subsidiary Iowa Total Care, for future coverage.

Probably the kickbacks weren't large enough to satisfy Kimmie
