However the DMR reports: https://www.desmoinesregister.com/story/news/politics/2020/04/16/kim-reynolds-on-7-state-coronavirus-pact/5148918002/
When asked if she was invited, Reynolds' spokesman Pat Garrett responded that she "will continue to participate in conversations with nearby governors as we prepare to open the state back up in the coming weeks."
Garrett didn't respond when asked again if Reynolds was asked to join with the other governors.
When asked about the absence of Iowa in the group, Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker said he wished more states had joined.
"Iowa chose not to be part of this," Pritzker said. "I know they don't have a stay-at-home rule yet in place. They've made a lot of different decisions than we have."
Reynolds has argued that the steps she has taken were as effective as other states, like Illinois, that have stay-at-home orders.

She is a Republican ideologue - period. Again today she mentioned working with Nebraska (I think SD also). My opinion she don't give a flying fuck about eastern Iowa.

The 7-state, let's make sure the second wave comes really fast and that it is REALLY big and bad while we slap all of our heroic medical workers on the front lines in the face pact?
That one?

(63,150 posts)My understanding of the pact that the seven Midwestern states agreed to was to work in coordination so that one state would not jump the gun and open things up too early thus causing a second wave.
The other benefit would be to act in a coordinated manner to have more power to resist insane orders from Trumpco.
Perhaps you have different information?
Iowa's Reynolds has refused to any shutdown orders despite heavy numbers in the eastern part of the state.

No, I see what you mean. The word "reopen" has become a trigger for me lately.

I think they should get Mexico to build a wall along the Mississippi to keep the Iowans infecting only each other., especially their governor.
