"Johnson County judge..... asked the Kansas State Attorney General to weigh in before he issues his ruling. The Kansas Justice Institute..... arguing the government should not be allowed to destroy Martinez car for an act he did not commit. But, weeks after the hearing, the Attorney General has decided he will not get involved in the case,"
Our Attorney General (Derek Schmidt) running for Governor is unable or unwilling to issue a ruling on such a simple matter, this should be used against him on the campaign trail. If he can't make little decisions, we surely don't need him making big ones.

You know those ridiculous regulations Republicans keep talking about - here is a classic one.

(19,700 posts)If SCOTUS can say corporations are people because of political fundraising efforts,
why can't Gov Kelly declare she's giving a pardon to a car since it's done nothing wrong?
I'd even bet the VIN # is stamped on the frame somewhere.

(19,700 posts)early Vettes are stamped twice on the TOP of the left frame rail. NO, is is not easily accessible! The stamps
are not always in exactly the same place because they were hand stamped. They're usually closer to the outer,
upper edge of the frame. Will need mirror and flashlight to locate.
From what I read, one is always around the driver's seat, second one aft of there, sometimes at the end of
the left frame rail. Depends on who was working at the factory that day. But my gosh the KHP surely knows
this information, and if those numbers match the VIN tag there shouldn't be a problem. Starting to smell
like someone wanted a nice old Corvette for free. "Yes, we destroyed the car, TRUST US"

This won't become rational until the booty is separated from the bounty hunters.
Have any proceeds go directly a general government aid fund and watch them stop.

And that's a gorgeous car.

(12,468 posts)For example, theres no conflict of interest law on the books for judges so, in essence, it doesnt exist. There are quite a few extremely affluent neighborhoods in the county and the courts excell at transferring wealth to connected, white men. Backroom, dirty deals are the norm. It never gets reported because news outlets dont want to risk losing their access.
