so there it is - Kansas electoral massacre part two

Kansas House - 33 Democrats, 92 Republicans
Kansas Senate - 8 Democrats, 32 Republicans - most of the moderates lost in primaries.

Well, I thought that Lukert had won. He was leading, but it looks like Pyle came back. Kultala is gone, as the 3rd time was the charm for Fitzgerald. Ann Mah is gone, lost by 27 votes.

Sam Brownback now has a blank check.

Expect

school refinancing
sales tax increases
property tax increases

Ann Mah was the first and best chance I have ever had to have a dem rep.

I have worked with her, depended on her vote so many times and was so excited to have not only a democratic representative but to have it be her.

I would say we need to hunker down and the democrats need to start planning but there are no democrats wealthy enough to run on their own dime so I don't know what to say. Apparently the national party is ok with this.

I could be all wet here, not a democrat anymore and will not be until they get their heads out of their asses and realize what they are doing to real people when they abandon them. Missouri is next I fear.

I guess realistically though, those are the only kind that can win. I'm just not sure how committed they are to the working class either though.

but Ann was not one of them. At least she never appeared to be....I know that is not what you were talking about, just still stunned. I thought she would really do well in this new district, lots of liberals out here in this area of the boonies.

I don't think there are democrats with enough personal fortune to run. I totally agree with you and the way you feel but if there is nothing from the national party who else is there?

property taxes will go up because cities, schools and counties will lose money from the state. But because local governments will be the ones raising taxes, Brownback and his minions will claim "not our fault".
