FRANKFORT, Ky. (WKYT) - Former Kentucky Democratic Party leader Jerry Lundergan was pardoned by Biden moments before he left office.
Lundergan was sentenced to 21 months in prison after being convicted of a scheme to funnel thousands of dollars into his daughter Alison Lundergan-Grimes 2014 U.S. Senate campaign.
He reported to prison in November 2021.
In 2022, Lundergans attorneys filed an emergency motion for compassionate release, saying he had suffered a second stroke since his sentencing and mentioned other serious medical issues.
He also appealed his case to the U.S. Supreme Court, but the court refused to hear it.
Lundergan was released from custody in January 2023 without serving his full sentence.
