KY-SD37: Early voting for Kentucky's 37th District special election starts Dec. 11

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- Early voting starts Thursday for a special election to fill Kentucky’s 37th Senate District seat, which opened after David Yates became Jefferson County clerk.

Three candidates are running: Democrat Gary Clemons, Republican Calvin Leach and Libertarian Wendy Higdon.

Clemons is a U.S. Army veteran and union president. Leach previously served in the Army Reserve and works at Louisville’s airport. Higdon is a senior surgical technologist and former founder of the Louisville Tea Party.

Voters will have multiple chances to cast a ballot. Kentucky Secretary of State Michael Adams said early voting runs Thursday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., with the same locations open on Election Day, Tuesday, Dec. 16, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
