IRS auditing University of Louisville employment contracts

University of Louisville’s problems continue to mount.

Spokesman John Karman confirmed Saturday that the Internal Revenue Service is auditing U of L’s 2014 federal employment tax returns and is seeking the employment contracts of former President James Ramsey, former Provost Shirley Willihnganz, and the head coaches of its basketball teams and football team.

Karman said in an email that the university has no reason to think the audit is anything other than routine and that other schools have been audited by the IRS. He said he didn’t know if U of L had been previously audited.

Insider Louisville first reported the audit Friday, citing a letter from an IRS specialist requesting a meeting to discuss the audit with Jonathan Rexroat, U of L tax manager.
