Both Greenwell Springs residents arrested in the killing of two found in St. Helena Parish entangled in other criminal matters
The Greenwell Springs man and woman arrested last week in the killing of two Baker men found in St. Helena Parish had both been entangled in criminal matters before this incident.
William Bottoms Jr., 27, who authorities allege fatally shot Derrick D. Williams, 23, and Mohamed S. Hussain, 29, on June 1, had been recently on parole after serving time for possession of heroin, said Department of Corrections spokesman Ken Pastorick.
Bottoms had been released on good time in his seven-year sentence on March 31, about two months before officials allege he killed the two men.
Megan Marie Gaylord, 27, who is accused of helping Bottoms cover up the killings, also has been charged with second-degree cruelty to a juvenile after her 3-year-old child tested positive for cocaine in 2015. A bench warrant was issued for Gaylord on June 5 after failing to appear at the last hearing in the trial in East Baton Rouge Parish court.
