Okay, the NYT sucks, but they happen to be right this one time . . .http://www.wdsu.com/article/new-orleans-named-no-1-place-to-visit-in-the-world-in-2018-by-nyt/15003259
New Orleanians know what makes the city special. From the vibrant culture to the easygoing people, that's life in the Big Easy. But if your friends out of state still haven't discovered what makes the city great -- or they are looking to return -- the New York Times says now is the time. The publication named New Orleans the No. 1 place to visit in 2018. The Crescent City beat out 51 other destinations not just in the country, but around the world.
"There is no city in the world like New Orleans. Influences from Europe, the Caribbean, Latin America, Africa and indigenous peoples have made it the ultimate melting pot," the publication explains for why New Orleans is No. 1.
The New York Times created a special section for its "52 Places to Go in 2018" list. The website features a vibrant second line, and a scroll down takes the reader to the New Orleans entry.
Make no mistake, New Orleans was partly chosen for the various events planned in 2018 to celebrate the city's tricentennial. The Crescent City is also in the midst of celebrating Carnival, the culmination being Mardi Gras and before that, many beloved parades.

We go at least once a year (6 hour drive). There is so much more to NOLA than Bourbon Street so if you go check out the other areas too if you can. Watched them putting the parade stands together in preparation for Mardi Gras. This is a great time to be in NOLA because it is not hot outside.
The other thing is the food! Amazing restaurants everywhere!

Did the French Quarter Market and The River Walk along with Nottaway Plantation. Always something to enjoy.

I could sit in Jackson Square all weekend watching the street performers. Plus, Cafe Du Monde is right there with those yummy beignets.
