Inauguration Day: LaToya Cantrell celebrates Mass and is sworn in as New Orleans' first female mayor

http://www.nola.com/

LaToya Cantrell takes the oath of office Monday (May 7), becoming the first female mayor in New Orleans. She replaces Mitch Landrieu, who hit his term limit. She'll be sworn in Monday at 10 a.m. at Mahalia Jackson Theater. Immediately following the inauguration, the mayor will lead a second line from the Mahalia Jackson Theater to Armstrong Park. The inaugural ball will be at 8 p.m. at Mardi Gras World.

Bonus: Mayor Cantrell is African-American. Currently, the mayors of Baton Rouge, Shreveport, and New Orleans are black females! This is a HUGE step in the right direction!
