Copy & Forward: October 9, 2012 is the deadline for voter registration in Louisiana

LOUISIANA
1. GET REGISTERED
Get registered to vote with your current name at your current address by 30 days
before Election Day. To vote in the November 6th general election you must be
registered by Sunday October 9th.
You can get your registration started right now: http://www.GottaRegister.com

2. WHAT TO BRING
Make sure you bring one of the following with you, if you have it, to be sure your vote counts:
• A driver’s license
• A Louisiana Special ID
• Other generally recognized picture ID that contains your name and signature.
If you don’t have an acceptable photo ID; bring any of the following that has your
name and current address:
• Utility bill
• Payroll check
• Other government document.
If you don’t have a photo ID you’ll need to sign an affidavit affirming your identity. In
addition, a poll work worker may ask you some identifying questions.

3. VOTE!
Election Day is Tuesday November 6, 2012. Polls in Louisiana will
be open from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Central Time

VOTE EARLY:
For the November 6th general election, Louisiana has early voting each day but
Sunday from October 23-30, 2012. Early voting hours are 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Early
voting takes place at your parish’s Registrar of Voters office in each and also at
designated locations in certain parishes.
For the latest information on where, when, and how to vote early, find and contact
your local early vote location.

VOTE ABSENTEE BY MAIL:
If you meet certain qualifications, such as being absent from your parish during the
early voting period or on election day, being 65 years of age or older, or living outside
your parish of registration as a student, you’re able to vote absentee by mail.

and mail-in your absentee ballot, see the website of the Louisiana Secretary of State.
