Dire warning from governor: Louisiana could reach COVID-19 worst-case scenario

https://www.wdsu.com/article/dire-warning-from-governor-louisiana-could-reach-covid-19-worst-case-scenario/31791939

BATON ROUGE, La. — Gov. John Bel Edwards issued a dire warning, a worst-case scenario, to residents about the state of the coronavirus in Louisiana, adding that the state could resemble other parts of the world with large community spreads.

Edwards is urging Louisianians to do their part to stop the spread of COVID-19. He is calling on residents to self-quarantine and those who are infected but don't need urgent medical attention to recover at home.

"If you just look at the increase in cases day to day -- the percentage of new cases -- and how long it takes to double the number of cases, and this is early, but our trajectory is basically the same as what they had in Italy," Edwards said.

Edward said he believes the hospital systems in Louisiana could be overwhelmed in the next seven to 10 days as more results return positive. Nearly 400 coronavirus cases have been reported in Louisiana.

Please stay safe and plan to be inside for coming months. Keep yourself healthy. Have supplements and food and medicine.

Don't know your situation and with your family, but take care and have a plan. I saw it coming weeks before most people I know and I am ready more than most. We are now in Day 5 here in the Bay Area of California. I am trying to restrict my going out to daily walks with the dog on a hiking trail and to go to the store only once a week. I also realize that may need to change soon too and have been preparing and expanding my garden bed and have a bicycle exerciser and my yoga studio is doing online classes and I have a TRX system, so essentially a home gym. And hoping that Amazon, Costco and the local grocer will be able to do deliveries which I will wipe down with chlorine cleaner.

This is going to be months and getting worse and people have not grasped just how bad.

Yes many people are oblivious, seemingly no matter what. It's ridiculous.
You take care of your family and yourself.

What worries me is that we are probably just now seeing cases due to contact during Mardi Gras. Not only do hundreds of thousands of locals attend, but also lots of people from neighboring states and from all over the world.

And they get completely shit-faced and act like fools. It's a hot bed for disease spread.

I was surprised that Fla. did not close the beaches untol a couple of days ago, instead of before sprin break.

Now all visitors are heading home, some of them have to be infected.

of our dear families and friends in NOLA and what you're going through. AP has a great, sad article today "Let the good times roll" has become "Wash your hands." It reminds all of us that we have always hoped beloved New Orleans would never have to go through another Katrina but we never know. Take care of each other and we will pray that you get the support you're going to need so much.
