Governor John Bel Edwards appoints more women to higher ed boards as LSU scandal escalates
Gov. John Bel Edwards appointed a third woman to the LSU Board of Supervisors as the sexual harassment scandal at the university escalates and some women lawmakers suggest a more diverse board may have demanded more accountability from those who mishandled complaints of assault and rape.
Edwards also appointed another woman to the Louisiana Board of Regents that oversees all of the state's higher education boards.
The governor has appointed Laurie Lipsey Aronson of Baton Rouge to the LSU board and Terrie P. Sterling of Zachary to the regents.
A report issued by Husch Blackwell concluded LSU mishandled complaints related to sexual harassment, rape and assault. The report was commissioned following a USA Today investigation that the Husch Blackwell report confirmed.
