Caddo Parish Commissioner Williams pleads not guilty to wire fraud

Caddo Commissioner Michael Williams pleaded not guilty to 12 counts of wire fraud Tuesday.

The commissioner made his first appearance as a defendant in a federal courtroom in Shreveport where he was arraigned.

Williams is accused of defrauding the Caddo Commission and stealing more than $2,000 from Swag Nation, an organization contracted to mentor and counsel at-risk youth.

The commissioner was processed by the U.S. Marshals Service after his court appearance. He was released on an unsecured bond with the stipulation he does not obtain a passport or travel internationally.
