Louisiana Democrats release anti-Donald Trump ad
The Louisiana Democratic Party has launched a web campaign against GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump, with a very specific message attempting to appeal to Louisiana voters who don't like former Ku Klux Klan leader David Duke.
The Democrats' ad ends with "Get involved. It's important." -- a throwback to the pro-Edwin Edwards "Vote for the Crook. It's important" rally cry from the 1991 governor's race. It's clearly meant to appeal to those same types of people who couldn't see themselves supporting Duke in that race.
The ad doesn't mention Democrat Hillary Clinton by name. Instead, it splices together cuts of Trump's February interview with CNN's Jake Tapper in which he repeatedly refused to disavow Duke along with national news clips of Duke during his campaigns for Louisiana governor and president.
The ad opens with Tapper: Will you unequivocally condemn David Duke and say you dont want this vote or that of other White Supremacists in this election?
