Baton Rouge women sentenced to 1 year, order to pay over $850K in defrauding pediatric surgery group
An office manager convicted of embezzling money from her employer, a surgery group for children, some 256 times over seven years was sentenced Thursday to one year in prison for wire fraud.
Lorrie Lynn Rogerson, 57, of Baton Rouge defrauded the Pediatric Surgery Group of Louisiana, a group of physicians that specializes in surgery on children, of nearly half a million dollars, U.S. Middle District Attorney Walt Green said in a news release.
Rogerson will have to pay more than $850,000 in restitution and other costs: The $430,490 she embezzled, a $10,00 fine, $13,505 to the victim to reimburse costs of investigating the crime, and forfeiture of nearly $400,000 in assets, the release said.
From 2008 to 2015, Rogerson used her access of the company's bank account information to embezzle the funds, officials said. In one instance, she used internet services to divert funds from the surgery group to pay her personal credit card bills, Green's office said.
