State Sen. Troy Brown could face suspension or expulsion during special session

Two senators have prepared competing resolutions to either expel or suspend state Sen. Troy Brown, who has pleaded no contest to domestic battery, during the special session that begins Monday.

Timing may become an issue as Brown has hired Jill Craft, a Baton Rouge lawyer who handles employment cases. He referred questions to her, but Craft did not return calls Thursday.

Brown may choose to challenge the resolutions in state court, which could postpone any action until the regular session of the Legislature that begins April 10.
