Democrat wins Senate seat in upset

Maine senate seat lost because of anti-GOP mood?

Democrat Chris Johnson defeated Rep. Dana Dow, R-Waldoboro, in a special election Tuesday, giving the Democrats an unexpected win in Senate District 20.

Unofficial results released by Democrats, and updated this morning by the Kennebec Journal, give Johnson a 466 vote margin with all precincts reporting. The totals show 3,368 for Johnson and 2,902 for Dow.

This was an excellent win. Hopefully, it foretells how the rest of 2012 will go.
