is sending maine to the 50's
For those of us that survived the 50's we know what happens when the right ruins our future! we had the biggest exodus of youth because the only jobs were seasonal,no benefits, and their were more people than jobs.
I got out of high school in 1953,their were 121 kids in my class 6o males left for the service or ! A few went to other states! the rest either went to college,(probably 25 ) the others like me got a job. I got a job with an engineering company and traveled new england. My ties to the outdoors kept me in
MAINE! MY ADVICE TO MY GRAND CHILDREN =GET OUT OF MAINE!
HERE'S WHY!
You would never tell a student getting good grades to stop studying so their grades could get worse, right? Well that seems to be Governor is telling Maine.
Last week he rolled out one of the most devastating budget proposals our State has ever seen, and defended it by promising that it "brings Maine closer to the national average." A closer inspection, reveals that moving closer to several "national averages" is a move in the wrong direction. budget cuts tens of thousands of Mainers off of health care, throws thousands of elderly on the streets and eliminates funding for Head Start.
Rather than lifting our averages in areas where Maine falls behind the rest of the nation - like average annual salary, college graduation rate, and investment in research and development - the Governor's budget pushes Maine down to average in areas where we already doing better than the rest of the country, such as:
UNEMPLOYMENT: Maine's unemployment rate is 7.3%, well below the national unemployment rate of 8.6%. Since Governor took office, we've already lost 4,800 jobs and his budget proposal is estimated to cut 4,400 more. The last thing we should do right now is pass a budget that puts more Maine jobs in jeopardy and moves Maine closer to the national unemployment average.
POVERTY: According to the U.S. Census Bureau, Maine's poverty rate in 2010 was 12.5%. Nationally the poverty rate is 14.3%. Maine's safety net programs are what separate many Maine families from living in poverty, but Governor proposed budget cuts will take those services away. This will push more Maine families into poverty as parents are forced to quit their jobs because of cuts to Head Start, child care vouchers, and health care.
CHILDREN IN POVERTY: In 2010 18.7% of Maine children lived in poverty, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. That's just under the national poverty rate of 22%. By taking important services away from children and families, more children will be living in poverty. We should be focused on helping fewer Maine children grow up in poverty - not more.
THIS IS IDEA OF MOVING ! FACE IT THE ONLY WAY OUT IS TO PAY THE HELP MORE! NOT GIVE THE HAVES MORE POWER! NOT TAKING FROM THE LOW INCOME FAMILIES!
IF YOUR UNDER 25 RUN! OR STAY AND FIGHT FOR YOUR FUTURE!
