Rental costs in Maine?

My daughter and I are looking to move to Maine later this year. It looks like a beautiful state and rental costs look competitive. Would any residents mind sharing insights on affordability, particularly apartment rental prices on the lower side. This far we've been looking at Newport and Skowhegon. Thanks in advance for any thoughts.

non starter. I got hooked on sunshine and can't live with overcast any more...
Did I say Maine is beautiful?? Can't help with the rental though. Call a real estate agent and ask them?
Maybe look up rentals in those towns and talk to the land lords?
A thought..

Good suggestions. Craigslist is helping out, I'm just hoping a few kind local souls might share thoughts. Skowhegon looks affordable, for example, but is it serial-killer central?

We'll definitely be driving out to look before moving.

Former mill town with some town-like amenities. Lots of scenery nearby too.

Either open or concealed, and no background checks on buying guns from other people.

It is beautiful, but gets damn cold in the winter, please plan for high heating costs and oil is used in 80% of the homes.
