Maine
Related: About this forumAnother day in Paradise....
Full sun at dawn, starting heating up @ 10AM....up to 95 degrees by 3PM....then the thunderboomers moved in and it rained torrentially for about 45 minutes. Garden watered! Temps dropped 20 degrees and maintained thru 8:30.
Took this @ 8PM....
Things of note-
* Wine by Black Box
* Deck will be getting painted in July.....hasn't been touched since 2002. It's all pressure treated and in good shape.
* Railing is cedar and it is punked. Planning on removing and replacing with PT wood and bronze anodized aluminum tubes.
* Growing some world-class grass in the planter. Should reach out to the UMaine Ag Extension and see if they want the seeds.
* Have reached peek growth - I expect things to slow down going into July.

(27,502 posts)95 degrees right at around 4:00 p.m., then the storm came through and brought rain and cooler temps. My garden was parched so this was all good. Maybe go to Walmart and pick up some cheap flowering plants for those planters!

(27,502 posts)Thirty years ago I lived on a small town about six miles from the coast. The bugs were horrific. I had a huge garden and wore a bug net to plant and weed. The mosquitoes were huge and could bite you through your jeans. Even after moving into the city, there was still an irksome bug season that went from early spring through early July. Now... not so much. I also had a cardoon overwinter in the garden this year. Climate change?

Do I sense a meet up in Maine brewing?
I have been looking at coming back out after Labor Day to look around some. I think I'll drive this time... it's not like I have a specific date to be there, yet.
